The Village notebook · Grade 6

From the classroom to Mammoth Cave.

A study of rocks and minerals becomes an exploration of a world below the surface.

Grade 6 · Learning through firsthand experience

Begin with a question.

The published grade 6 program begins with classroom learning about rocks and minerals. In October, students extend that study through the Mammoth Cave experience, connecting what they have learned with the landscape around them.

See science differently.

Cave ecology provides a setting for observing, questioning, and making connections. Geological features become more than diagrams in a book; they become part of an experience students share.

Grow together along the way.

Outdoor education also creates time for shared discovery beyond the usual classroom. The trip is one part of Village’s wider approach to learning in God’s creation.
